Armita Ghobadi, PhD, is a cognitive developmental psychologist and faculty member at Barnard College, Columbia University. She is the Principal Investigator of the Ghobadi Lab, where she investigates language and cognitive development across neurodiversity in children and adults. Her work integrates bilingualism research, gesture–speech coordination, and multimodal communication to better understand how meaning is constructed across languages and contexts.
In addition to her academic research, Dr. Ghobadi engages in applied work with early childhood settings, collaborating with daycare programs to translate developmental science into practice. She also explores the intersection of cognitive development and artificial intelligence, examining context sensitivity and communication in large language models, including collaborations involving AI systems such as Gemini and Meta platforms.
Angela Yun received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with Advanced Honors from Georgia State University. She is interested in neurodiversity and the interplay of language, cognition, and learning. She aspires to become a multilingual developmental psychologist and BCBA -- working to create a meaningful impact on children from diverse and low-income backgrounds.
Cindy Kim earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Georgia State University. Her academic interests center on clinical pediatric psychology and the developmental processes underlying child mental health. She intends to pursue graduate training to further develop her expertise and advance her career in the field.
Gabriela Costa is a senior at the Georgia State University Honors College, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Her interests span biological, cognitive, and behavioral aspects of human development, with a particular focus on child development and clinical work with children. She plans to pursue graduate study in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and continue expanding her expertise across areas of psychology.
Darwin is a second-year Psychology major at the Université de Fribourg. He is exploring potential career paths within the medical and mental health fields and aspires to contribute to healthcare access in Cambodia, with the long-term goal of establishing his own clinic.
Leandra Quick is a senior at Barnard College, majoring in Psychology and Art History. Her interests lie in cognition and perception, with a particular focus on memory, creativity, cognitive bias, and the construction of meaning in both individual and collective contexts. She plans to pursue graduate study with the goal of becoming a researcher and building a career in academia.
